Strategic Planning/Goal Setting Facilitation

Purpose: To train school site School Improvement Leadership Teams to lead and manage local school improvement efforts.

The Strategic Planning/Goal Setting Facilitation Model created by Educational Renaissance is predicated on an absolute belief that school improvement will not occur by chance or happenstance but only through deliberate, continuous, and systematic action. The Strategic Planning/Goal Setting Facilitation Model represents a modification of the Northwest Educational Laboratory’s Onward To Excellence (OTE) program. The model presents a practical and common-sense approach for educators, parents, students, and board members to collectively and collaboratively use when identifying, gathering, analyzing, and most importantly, using school performance and related data and information to make informed school improvement decisions. The model promotes individual and consensus group decision-making throughout the process and strives to identify both short-and long-term school improvement goals that are worth pursuing and that are realistically attainable.

The model focuses on eight (8) general school related performance areas:

  1. School Demographics
  2. Student Academic Achievement
  3. Student Behavior/Conduct
  4. Student/Staff Attendance
  5. Student/Staff/Parent Attitudes/Perceptions
  6. Graduate Student Attitudes/Perceptions
  7. Student Co-curricular Participation/Performance
  8. Miscellaneous

Short-and long-term school improvement goals must clearly be focused on improving either student achievement, behavior/conduct, and/or attitudes.

Training Timeline: 2-5 Days
