Lesson Plan Templates (LPT’s)

Purpose: To provide a powerful yet practical computer-based school improvement resource that truly allows educators to align local and/or state curriculum content standards with effective instructional and assessment strategies and best practices.

Lesson Plan Templates (LPT’s) are lesson planning instruments that systematically guide teachers through the curriculum, instruction, and assessment decision-making process. A key LPT format feature is the embedding of local and/or state curriculum content standards (i.e., Content, Performance, Benchmark, Grade Level Expectations, etc.). An embedded curriculum standard causes teachers to focus on the essential knowledge, skills, abilities, and deep understandings that are implied within the embedded standard while deciding the most effective instructional and assessment approaches for achieving the standard’s intended learn outcomes.

Not enough can be said about the efficient uses of teaching planning time. It is often in short supply and most often spent transcribing non-descriptive notations in a tiny rectangular box in a worthless lesson plan book. Consequently, most lesson plan books reflect very little if any cognitive thought or constructive insight . . . they provide little if no information of any legitimate value. Classroom textbooks often serve as the curriculum guide and drive the instructional and assessment decision-making process. Lesson planning is reduced to a meaningless afterthought that does not serve teachers or students well.

LPT’s have been designed to address all the abovementioned alignment and lesson planning shortfalls. LPT’s are computer-based instruments that teachers can access and complete using simple and everyday computer knowledge and skills . . . LPT lesson planning is systematically completed with considerable ease . . . they are great time and effort savers. Click here to view an Alaska LPT/Click here to view a Montana LPT.
